About Manor Texas
A small town of just over 5,000 residents, Manor Texas is located just 12 miles from the state capital in Austin. After the railroad came through in 1871, Manor TX was officially established. It became the center of Travis County cotton production and one of the most populous cities in the state. The early boom became a bust by 1930 after two fires and the cotton-killing boll weevil swept through the town. Then, Austin began its wave of eastward growth in 2000, carrying Manor along with it. Many may recognize Manor as the location of several movies, including What’s Eating Gilbert Grape with Johnny Depp and Leonardo De Caprio.
